A place for me to write.

Old Haiku – Android

Today I’m with my wife seeing family in our hometown. We’ll be here all weekend and I probably won’t have a lot of time for stories, but I recently remembered I posted a few haikus into the r/haiku subreddit.

This one was written 4 years ago, I think. Reddit doesn’t show me the exact postdate. Maybe I could find it, but I don’t care that much right now. (Edit: just found a One Note where I wrote my Haikus originally before posting them. It was written February 11th of 2020)

Anyways, this is actually 3 haikus that are a short little story about an android. I remember these haikus got me to think about a world where only androids existed and the idea that humans (or anything) created them was a part of religious myth. There’d even be different religions based on what they believed their design intent was. Seemed like it’d be a fun idea to play with.

Enjoy.

1

A sea of faces

Neon lights buzz overhead

The android walked on

2

Turned down an alley

Supposed to be a shortcut

Run into old friends

3

No greeting or smiles

Footsteps coming from behind

Awake with one eye
