I’ve lost track of time today and haven’t had time to write my next short story. So instead, I’m going to show off a short story I did for a friend of mine that is in their universe called the Crystalline Mythos.
My friend, Teej, has been helpful in inspiring me to write again. A couple years ago, he handed me his manuscript for his first novel in a world called the Crystalline Mythos. It’s got a sci-fi futuristic and hyper-capitalistic feel combined with a touch of fantasy. It’s right up my alley as far as types of genres I’m into. Needless to say, I got into it. I printed it out on a work printer and gave him the manuscript filled with comments. Mostly just my thoughts as I read. That novel has been broken down into multiple short stories that he’s self-published on Amazon.
He continued writing more and more short stories and one of those had a couple of characters I thought would be fun to play around with in their own short. So I asked him and he was excited to have me contribute. My short story is written like a company document that collected diary entries of an engineering student at the company university. The names in the document are all redacted. This was a small inside joke I made with myself because Teej never named the characters in the short. He later gave them names and one of them goes on to be a stronger character in future stories.
My short was a lot of fun to write and Teej even made an audio version of it. Below you can find both versions. I hope you enjoy and check out more of his stuff if what I made is interesting to you.
