I had a fun day with my wife today. It was relaxing. So, I haven’t much time to write, but I’m not going beat myself up over it. Looking up my old poems for my post a couple days ago was nice, and there are more from that time. Figured I’ll post another one today. Just something to keep the posts coming daily and give myself a reason to write something, even if it is a simple intro like this.
This poem is from the same day and has a lot of the same tone and theme. I was definitely coming to terms with moving away from the comfort of my creative pursuits and settling into the idea of something brand new. Enjoy.
A sudden feeling of isolation overcame me
And I found myself alone
Sitting atop a green hill
Overlooking the entire world
I felt soft grass under my legs
Cool breeze brushing my face
I did not know where I was
Or how to leave
Only that this place was to be my home
If I was to sit here without leaving
But I wanted to leave
I wanted to know what else there was
So I left my safe green hill
With it’s soft grass and comforting breeze
To find a path with danger and adventure
Leading to yet another safe, soft, and comforting green hill
Because it’s not where you end up that matters as much as
The path you follow and how you get there
